Client – Brims Construction
The construction of the castle began in 1072 from the orders of William the Conqueror, a total years after the Norman Conquest of England, and soon after the Normans first came to the North. It was built in protection of the Norman rulers from the rebellious local population and potential invasions from Scotland.
Working alongside Brims Construction, Ingleford Scaffolding Ltd produced a bespoke ramp scaffold design to enable restorative works. We built a 6.5 tonne ramp to allow regular forklift and piling rig access to Durham Castle, transporting a variety of materials to allow Brims to carry out restorative works to the castle.
