Binchester Roman Fort

Contractor: Durham City Council
Project Location: Bishop Auckland
Project Duration: 4 weeks

Binchester Roman Fort

The fort was originally established in 79AD to guard the crossing of the River Wear by Dere Street, the main Roman Road between York, Hadrian’s Wall and Scotland.

The scaffolding, put in place by our team, was designed and built as a temporary roof, for the fort. It helped to create a safe viewing platform, suitable for all visitors due to the installation of a ramp, also fitted by our team. This allowed people to see how living was 2,000 years ago.

As a team, we consistently inspect and maintain the structure of the roof installed.
